Through various global subsidiaries and unconsolidated entities, we purchase, process and sell a variety of flue-cured, burley, dark air-cured and oriental tobaccos. Universal Leaf provides agronomy support, research and financing to tobacco farmers but does not manufacture consumer tobacco products.

AFRICA

Universal Leaf Tobacco Company, Inc. has been instrumental in the expansion of tobacco production in Africa. With our processing plants in Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania and Zimbabwe, we have made long-term investments to ensure that we are well placed to procure, process, and supply quality tobaccos on a sustainable basis, in and from these origins.

ASIA

Universal’s operations in Asia, are headquartered in Singapore. We conduct business in the Philippines, People’s Republic of China, India and Bangladesh. Universal Asia sourcing and growing operations include flue cured Virginia, burley, dark air-cured, sun air-cured and dark fire-cured tobaccos ranging from filler to full flavor styles.

DARK AIR-CURED

Universal Leaf Tobacco Company, Inc. is a leader in this geographically diverse market. Our Dark Air-Cured operation reaches around the world to include the United States, Indonesia, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Paraguay, Ecuador and the Philippines.

EUROPE

Universal is the only independent, global leaf supplier with significant operations in Europe. This region consists of processing facilities and sales offices in Italy and Poland was well as direct sourcing of tobacco in Spain and Hungary. Factories for reconstitued tobacco are located in Germany and Netherlands.

NORTH AMERICA

In the North American region, Universal has operations in the United States of America, Guatemala, Canada and Mexico.

ORIENTAL

Universal’s oriental leaf operations are conducted through a strategic partnership with one of the leading oriental leaf merchants in the world, Socotab, L.L.C. Our market in this region encompasses Turkey, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Greece.

souTH AMERICA

South America is the second largest producer of tobacco in the world, making it a significant area of operation within Universal’s family of regions. We handle the leaf sales and processing for an estimated 15% to 25% of the annual production of flue-cured Virginia, burley and Galpão tobaccos in Brazil.
