Universal Leaf Tobacco - Africa
Operations
Universal Leaf Tobacco (ULT) Africa has been instrumental in the expansion of tobacco crop production throughout the continent. With processing plants in Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe, ULT has made long-term investments to ensure that we are well placed to procure, process, and supply quality Burley, Flue-Cured, Dark Fire-Cured, and Dark Air-Cured leaf tobaccos from operations in Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
Community Impact
Universal is deeply committed to supporting the communities where it operates in Africa and works alongside 200,000 smallholder farmers to ensure sustainable tobacco production. Beyond agriculture, Universal actively invests in infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, and health initiatives – creating ripple effects that strengthen local livelihoods. Through agronomy, forestry, and labor training programs, ULT helps growers improve both crop quality and living standards, while upholding principles of environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
